WHY ARE THESE OFFICERS FROM CHICAGO’S MOUNTED PATROL UNIT SMILING?
By Barbara Laken and Annie Alexander
Meet Richard Unizycki, Robert Galassi and Garry Manning, members of CPD’s elite Mounted Patrol Unit, on the job in Lincoln Park. Protecting 1,200 acres of Chicago’s largest city park, visited by over 20 million people a year, isn’t always fun or easy; but you can’t beat the views. Miles of running paths, bike trails, beaches, playgrounds, baseball fields, tennis courts, soccer fields, baseball fields – even a municipal golf course with putting green – make the challenge of patrolling one of the nation’s largest and most varied urban green spaces something to smile about.
